Returns, Replacements & Defect Policy
At Take a Listen?, many of our products are limited-stock imported items, demo units, open-box units, or pieces from a carefully maintained personal collection. Because of this, our returns policy differs from that of large-scale retailers.
We aim to be fair, practical, and transparent while still protecting the long-term sustainability of the business.
1. Defect Reporting Period
Any mechanical defects must be reported within 7 days of delivery.
Customers are encouraged to inspect and test their products as soon as possible after receiving them.
2. Eligible Returns
Returns are accepted for legitimate mechanical or manufacturing defects only.
Examples may include:
• one channel not functioning,
• severe channel imbalance,
• intermittent connection issues,
• non-functioning buttons or connectors,
• clear driver or hardware failure under normal use.
3. Non-Eligible Returns
Returns will not be accepted for:
• change of mind,
• sound signature preference,
• comfort or fit issues,
• tip or cable preference,
• source or amplifier synergy,
• minor cosmetic variations,
• damage caused by misuse, drops, liquid exposure, or modification.
Portable audio products are highly subjective by nature, and listening preferences may vary from person to person.
4. Return Inspection Process
Returned items must first be received and tested before any refund or replacement is approved.
Customers are responsible for the cost of return shipping.
Please ensure returned products are securely packaged to avoid transit damage.
5.Shipping of Return(s)
Customer will be responsible for the cost and arrangement of shipping returned item(s).
6. Replacements
Where replacement stock is available, we will replace the defective unit with another unit in similar condition after inspection and confirmation of the defect.
7. Refunds
Where replacement stock is unavailable, a refund may be issued after the returned item has been received, inspected, and confirmed defective.
8. Open-Box, Demo & Limited Stock Items
Some products sold by Take a Listen? may be:
• open-box units,
• demo units,
• imported specialist products,
• or items from a personal enthusiast collection.
Product condition will always be disclosed as clearly as possible prior to purchase.
9. Goodwill & Flexibility
While the formal defect reporting period is 7 days, genuine cases may still be handled with reasonable flexibility at our discretion where appropriate.
Our goal is to build long-term trust within the South African audio community through honesty, communication, and fair dealing.
10. Future Policy Updates
As Take a Listen? grows and begins carrying deeper wholesale inventory, this policy may evolve over time to support broader warranty and replacement
